Sky On Fire
Sky On Fire by Jessie Zavala
As I was laying in bed, I happened to look outside and noticed how beautiful and eerie the sky looked before the night took over. I walked out to my back porch and was taken back. I stood there in awe, bewildered by what was taking place before me. I looked at the horizon and noticed all the different colors, the reds, the oranges and the blues. The sun's dying rays spread across the sky, trying to stay alive for as long as he could but losing the fight, as the sun was dragged down to the abyss.
I just felt compelled to not just take a photo of the beautiful phenomenon in the sky but after taking the photo, to stand there and absorb it all without my camera. I loved every short minute I had with this sunset. My eyes studying every inch of the sky, trying to memorize it and store it somewhere in my mind to come back to it when I want to remind myself of the beauty this world can create naturally and organically. After the sun finally disappeared, I was reminded that everything beautiful in this life is temporary and to enjoy and cherish every second of it because eventually, it'll all go away.
