The Wild Hunt

The Wild Hunt by Megan Stewart

Many cultures have the myth or legend of the “Riders on the Storm,” or “The Wild Hunt,” and they all draw upon the same idea: a spectral, ghostly, or supernatural hunting party crossing the sky, usually during winter storms. This image, taken during right before an electrical storm in Daytona Beach, Florida, reminds me of this very notion. As someone who is so thoroughly enraptured by mythology, this image brings me back right to the thought that myths and legends all have a base, a foothold that ties them to reality, and with The Wild Hunt, I’m a believer now more than ever.

Megan Stewart is a writer and budding visual artist whose work is raw, visceral, and uninterested in looking away. Storytelling, in any form, has always been the thing she can't walk away from. Megan is also the co-founder of Helia Lit, because apparently one creative obsession was never going to be enough. When she isn't writing, she's probably watching Formula 1 and making it everyone's problem.
