Benedictine
Benedictine by Robert Wise | Acrylic on Canvas
In Pecos, New Mexico is a Benedictine Monastery that is open to men, women, and couples, I lived there for a period of time in the mountains around Sante Fe. The buildings were much larger than the one in my picture, but they had the same style. During that time, I found the faith of first conquistadores to still residing as it had through the centuries. The peace and quiet of the monastery became a stabilizing and renewing experience. You can still occasionally find those little Spanish chapels scattered around New Mexico, hidden in the woods.
In this picture is one of those remote sanctuaries that blessed people for centuries. Who knows what amazing and startling situations were prayed over in just such a place as in this picture. Small and remote, but still mighty and available.
